Richard Scholtz is a highly respected folk musician. He is one of the founders of The Northwest Guitar Workshop which is a very prestigious annual folk school and The Whatcom Homemade Music Society.
I am often brought to tears by this song. Percy French had such great empathy for the plight of the Irish Mother. It is a shame that so many Irish mothers are again having to see their grown children depart to foreign shores. It seems like we are once again raising our children for export.
